This is the stealth primary. This election is traditionally the day on which Californians choose their Democratic and Republican presidential nominees, but we already did that this year on February 5, leaving just the leftovers for this ballot: county supervisors (nonpartisan), district attorney (nonpartisan), state legislative party primaries, and ballot measures dealing with property rights and rent control.
Proposition 98, Eminent Domain & Rent Control. Proposition 99, Eminent Domain Reform.
Proposition 98 is a Trojan horse, intended to fool voters into ending government imposed rent central in over 100 city's thought out California. Prop 98 will also effect the fair return of rental deposits. Laws that protect seniors and the disabled from drastic rent increases. Along with laws requiring that landlords give tenants ample notice before evictions Prop 98 is been working under the guise of reforming Eminent Domain.
With all the Foreclosures state wide. Some of these former homeowners have joined the ranks of renters. They might think twice about a proposal that would end rent control.
